Winter wonderland
Wish I had a digital camera so I could capture the wonderland quality of the world today.
It keeps snowing and the trees are groaning under the weight. Even the birch, with their bare arms are holding bouquets of snow. The evergreens look like mounds of marshmallow. Tall marsh grasses and cattails create spiky mounds across the peat bogs. One can’t quite tell the difference between the sod fields and the lakes or ponds, until you look at the “shore” line. In the pink light of sunset, the blues of the shadows hide darker shadows of rabbit and squirrel, maybe even a fox or a cat. I haven’t seen a deer in weeks, but the tracks are everywhere; under the branches of the white pine that line the parking lot, in the ditch beside the frontage road, and even venturing out a bit into the open field…or is it a lake?
When the sun returns (perhaps Saturday, they say) it will be dazzling.
