How do people do this?
It’s all fine and dandy to say “pray” and “rely on your friends” and “strengthen your support network.”
When it comes to the end of the day, how do people get through this?
Isn’t it bad enough to realize that you can’t stay in the relationship anymore?
Even though this county tries to make the process “civilized” it still puts you in such an adversarial position that it’s impossible to not betray the person you shared your life with for 22 years.
And be betrayed by him.
I do not want this to devolve into anything uglier than it has to be. But how am I going to prevent that? I can’t control what he does, how far he pushes. If I just agree to everything for the sake of not having an ugly divorce and protecting the boys, am I really accomplishing that?
