Oh, it must suck to be you sometimes!
When I got back from lunch there was an email from JL about “the project.” Seems the trouble I was having logging on this morning was his ISP’s server crashing. With the whole project on it. No idea when the last backup was done, or really, when the server crashed.
Do you have any back-ups?
Uh, no. When you bring me on to a project in the last 20 hours, there’s no time for writing in a Word document and then transfering over to the admin-build tool. I was working right in the tool.
This is a “loose-the-client level incident.”
Really? I had no idea! (*eye rolling a bit*)
On the other hand, it could net me another 10 or so hours of work…of course it might all have to be tonight!
Waiting to hear back from him after he hears back from the ISP about how much data was recovered. Seems the clients had printed off about 50 screen captures so much of the content was saved, but the interactions and the quizes, probably not.
Now of course we could have a little discussion about why the client is PRINTING OFF 50 SCREENS when doing their review. I was told there was a way for them to tag a page with comments, but, like many many on-line learning clients, they aren’t really comfortable working on-line.
As I’ve said for years, we’ll be a paper-less office society right after we give up personal automobiles.
