“putting up” is much different than “putting out”
got your attention, didn’t I?
Another catch-up story from this weekend.
As you may remember, I talked my mom and sister into sharing a FoodSaver vacuum storage gizmo. We picked strawberries, ate our fill, and froze bags and bags for winter. We picked Raspberries, ate our fill, and froze bags and bags for winter.
You get the idea.
Well, we had grand plans for corn-on-the-cob, green beans and tomatoes too. Grand plans need to happen, so I picked last Saturday, (a dad day) and put them on notice.
We “put up” (blanched, ice bathed, packaged and sealed):
6 trays (about 6 lbs?) of green beans
3 1/2 doz ears of corn (cut in half)
6 green peppers, coarsely diced
and
25 lbs of Roma tomatoes
I feel like a good mom.
SH stopped by around 1:00 in the middle of all this, because YM was bringing over a load of “big stuff” for the big move. She didn’t show up with her neighbor, cute friend of neighbor and truck until 2:30. By that time, both SH and I had had a couple of beers which I had graciously provided for the move-in crew. All they had in the truck was the hide-a-bed couch! Wha??
I convinced her that she might want to, while her neighbor was willing to use her truck, bring over a couple of other items. (!!!!!!!!!) So off they went to get another load. By this time it’s almost 3:00. SH has to go. YM and neighbor show up around 4:30 with about 6 more things.
Now, I love YM to death, but sometimes the culture gap between Minnesota and Japan is a little hard to fathom.
