I don’t know if this is going to work
I just opened my first paycheck from this new job.
(cue the scary music)
Talk about a leap of faith. The rest of this money has to start coming in pretty soon or we’re going to be at the edge of disaster much sooner than the end of CPE.
This check is almost $900 less than my mid-month check last month! The end of the month check will only be $200 more than this one. YM was 12 days late paying her September rent because she was waiting for her church to pay her what they owed her, but now she’s working for a church that is paying her even less than that. I need her rent to make my bills, not just for the heck of it.
JL of the freelance project still owes me over $500. I sent him a reminder email, but he still hasn’t followed up on the new project he called me about 2 weeks ago so who knows how long before he pays another invoice. The bookkeeper from the Deaconess community “forgot” to send me this month’s grant check. Supposedly it’s in the mail now.
There is no time (and less energy) in my schedule to take another job. If this doesn’t work and I can’t borrow money interest-free from a relative, what’s the next step? I don’t even know.
That sound you hear is the bumper of my budget scraping against the guard-rail of my financial life, trying to keep me from going over the edge.
Let’s hope the guard-rail holds.

I ‘m in the same boat this month. I’ve been spending too much on frivolous things. Gotta quit that.
