It’s just never enough

No matter how hard I work, how many 18 hour days in a row I endure, no matter how much actually gets accomplished compared to the average TV watching, couch riding, six-pack swilling American:

IT IS JUST NEVER ENOUGH

No matter how many times I am told:
“take care of yourself,”
“you deserve time everyday”
or
“you can’t give what you don’t have. If you become depleted, then you have nothing to give.”

For every one time someone says one of those banalities, TEN people are asking:

“where is…”
“why didn’t you…”
“when are you going to…”

and my favorite

“I need…”

Each person who has said to me in the last 6 weeks, “I’ll help you with that, if you need help” has, in fact NOT been able to help when the time came, because they’re “too busy” with work or whatever.

Every single person I tell that I’ve had five or six 16-hour days per week for the last month is concerned for me but not one is willing to let me skip their 4-hour meeting or tedious task.

For instance:

Choir letters did not get sent out. Apparently this job does not come with administrative support. So I have to make phone calls to the 16 families of the children’s choir that sings on Sunday to tell them that little fact.

The Oct 8 event choir still does not have accompanists, but the people who said they’d help if I couldn’t get it done aren’t available. Nor is the woman who was “coordinating” the choir turnout answer ANY questions and people are coming to me. Again. Tonight.

FtS. I’m going to bed. I’m on 24-hour call tomorrow starting at 8 am. Wish me luck and pray no one dies.

It’s going to be okay. Perhaps one of the parent’s could play piano? You could ask when sending out the choir letter?

Anyway, I know what you mean about all of this. I had one of those days yesterday. It sucks.

Well, try to have a better day today. Keep your positive head on.
