Emergency?
On Monday, we had about an hour discussion during the “all staff” meeting about what constitutes a legitimate reason to page the on-call chaplain.
Tonight, I got a page at 7:05 to unit 3A, the secure chemical dependency unit. This unit has a chaplain that they hire directly…not through Spiritual Health Services, so usually, when the on-call chaplain does get called to this unit, the procedure is to contact that specialist chaplain.
Except, tonight, I got called because the nurse was looking for the large print Bible.
Yeah.
I double checked with my supervisor, but I suggested that perhaps this could wait until morning, since I was not actually at the hospital.
Supervisor and I did have a little laugh that this played right into my concern of over-doing über caretaking Super Chaplain expectations.
Hopefully, that will be the last page for the night.
