A day off

Yesterday was quite nice. It started with a lovely breakfast at Day by Day Cafe with a nice young man (31!!) of Norwegian descent who is an engineer. Unlike the other Engineer, this guy could talk and laugh and tell funny stories. We had a very nice time and it seems possible that he will ask me out again.

Then I came home and made Cinnamon rolls for the boys (a cheater recipe that they love that uses Pillsbury Crescent roll dough, so it takes about 5 minutes to make and 20 minutes to bake.)

After that we set up the tree. We got as far as putting lights on it before they pooped out.

I actually had to visit a retail center yesterday (cue the screams and scary music) because the power adaptor to my laptop has developed a short!! I’ve limped along for about a week now but it is finally shooting little blue sparks and before I either burn the house down or destroy my computer I thought I’d go get a new one.

Yeah. Not as easy as picking up a gallon of milk, it seems. Apple, in their infinite wisdom has of course changed their power adaptors in the last two years. So what they have available does not work for my computer (2005 model). Additionally? The old model has been back ordered for several weeks. There is a Kensington brand model that would work, but that too is sold out. So I have ordered one but it will not be here until JANUARY 2!!!

I have 26 minutes on my battery…and that’s the old flame-thrower battery I was supposed to send back a couple of months ago.

I don’t know what people do if they depend on their laptop for business! I’m going to be screwed just to get my work done.

Stupid Apple. Stupid power cords. Stupid batteries that don’t last 4 weeks.

Today, I’m touring a real gym and then meeting a new friend for a walk around Lake Harriet. I think SaxMan is officially blowing me off, so tonight will be another night for sorting through the crap in my room. (update: Yeah. He wasn’t. Or didn’t, however that is supposed to be phrased. So the room is still a disaster area. But I also have new-found inspiration to get it into shape. ahem.)

Maybe I’ll find a new cache of cyber cafes in Minneapolis from which to update.

Peace all.
