Friday at last

I’m on-call today and boy! can you tell that it’s just a wee bit away from a full moon. Chased the whole entire day and didn’t get out of the hospital until 7 p.m. Hope it’s a quieter night.

I find it curious to learn that on days like this that are so mentally, spiritually and emotionally challenging I start fantisizing about 3:30 in the afternoon about two things. And I’m pretty sure this is the order of preference:

1) Someone who would just hold me while I cried it out and
2) Having sex until I forgot how to even spell hospital.

And in case you are wondering, no, neither one of those things are going to happen tonight.

On the other hand, one thing I forgot to mention earlier in the week is that SaxMan has invited me to accompany him tomorrow afternoon to an open house at his golf teacher’s studio. I know. It sounds like a lame excuse for a date. But consider these little nerve wracking points:

  1. He has been taking golf lessons with this same teacher and this same bunch of “cohorts” for several years. In other words, these are his golfing buddies.
  2. When I asked him the dress code his exact reply was “My boys wouldn’t forgive me if I showed up in pants. I’ll be kilting.” In other words, these are his golfing buddies…and their wives/S.O.s
  3. This studio is exactly 3 miles from my house. No, really. I drive past it every time I go to the work from my house. So, the possibility of ending up over here is pretty good, especially since the boys are with their dad starting at 10 p.m. tonight. Even though he did suggest that we drive separately “so that neither of us HAS to stay if the other wants to stay later.” In other words, these are his golfing AND drinking buddies…and their wives/S.O.s

Now, what the ef am I supposed to wear? It’s unbelievably cold here and if he wants to freeze his goodies off, I guess that’s his business (although, I must say I’d be disappointed if that actually happened.)

I for one HATE being cold. I think the idea of dresses/skirts and hose in the middle of winter is a dandy definition of insanity. As an old woman I’ll have deformed feet from all the crazy-ass shoes I’ve worn in the middle of a blizzard in the name of looking sexy. Or at least not like a dork.

But this is a bunch of golf enthusiasts and I have to climb up a metal staircase on the outside of a building to get there. Still, I think “sensible shoes” are out. This is a date afterall and I’m not 70!

He suggested that I could wear jeans, which opens up the possibility of squeezing some wool socks in to my hot hot ankle boots. But then there’s the question of what to pair it with. A big Lopi Wool Icelandic Sweater would be my first choice, but since it makes me look like a big (but awfully warm) ball of wool, I doubt that will make the cut.

Guess I’ll figure it out as I clean my room and wash sheets. a-hem.

Wear the jeans with a “fitting” sweater. Don’t worry about the thick socks. You will be warm in no time. wink
