Finished
Don’t worry. I don’t think this is an official turn into a knitting blog. But I wanted to share a finished project. It’s not the only one I’ve finished since the blog started, but I’m inspired by Stranded Pearls and Laurie to post some pics of my mad crazy divorced woman knitting.
Well, except for the 4 buttons from the ribbed waist down. It’s a discontinued yarn I found in my stash called Eternity by Reynolds. 51% wool, 49% microfiber. Washable.
This shows the pattern a bit better. Should have taken a picture of the back…maybe later in an edit.
It’s a Vogue pattern from the current edition.
Crazy day. I wonder about why I do this to myself:
morning: usual routine of dog/kids/self out the door
Tuesday: church staff meeting until noon or noon-thirty (noon today!)
Help Mom at tax office. (Last day to file) AND work on LN projects
4:30 meeting with director for As You Like It
5:30 or 6:00 watch a couple innings of DS2’s baseball game…if I can find the right park (not a home game.)
7:30 Worship commission meeting at church
9:30 or so Home
Somewhere in there I have to find a way to get home and feed the dog. Which involves cooking, as you might remember. The boys apparently will need to cook for themselves. but they have thumbs and understand fire and electricity, so I feel like that’s Ok.
I also need to note for myself that JvH called on Sunday to let me know that her sister-in-law of 33 years committed suicide last Thursday by jumping off the top of the airport parking ramp. Visitation is Thursday and service is Friday afternoon.
Depression and related conditions are LIFE THREATENING ILLNESSES so please, if you or a loved one is experiencing this seek help of trained medical professionals. You cannot just “snap out of it” any more than you can “snap out of” diabetes. And even then, sometimes people still die of diabetes. And depression.

Whew! Sounds like an extremely busy day. Glad to know the boys know how to use those thumbs! lol, I just had to laugh at that.
Hope you get a break to do absolutely nothing but kick up your feet and rest. I will let you know the year it happens to me!

Whoa. I was about to make a joke about your kids having “not just thumbs: OPPOSABLE thumbs” when I read the last two paragraphs. Weird how some people completely misunderstand depression. It’s like folks who think true alcoholism is just “drinking too much.”

I have tried to learn how to knit, but the directions confuse me, so I had my husband do it, because he’s better at interpeting instructions. He was really getting the hang of it and then he put it down and said, “This is soo not right!” “I’m a computer programmer, not a knitter, figure it out yourself sweet cheeks.”
I haven’t picked it up since without his help. I have dyslexia and some instructions are harder then others, I’ll just need to find a knitting class if I’m really interested in learning how to do it.
Yours looks lovely! You should be proud of yourself! And don’t let all this bad news get you down either.
I heard about the shooting at Virginia Tech and now I am avoiding the news altogether, because it’s not right the way tragedies get milked into a media circus. They don’t care about these people and their families, they’re only interested in “covering a story” and it makes me angry and sad.

Oh, that’s a pretty lace pattern! I think one of my next projects is definitely going to be a vest.
You’re so right that depression is life-threatening. Unfortunately people often find it hard to offer help, and the affected person may have trouble accepting it.
I feel so sorry for the professor who really reached out and did her best to try and help the young man. All this happened despite her best efforts.
