well, that’s interesting
I pulled up in front of the Poodle Club where GolfPro’s new band was to play a set tonight. Didn’t know if McKilt would be there or if he’d be accompanied, as it were.
Didn’t matter. Outside the joint before 10p.m. it looked a little too sketchy to park my car a half block away and walk in alone.
I don’t know if was fear of running the gauntlet of the half-in-the-bag smokers (there’s no smoking inside in MN, so they’re all outside the door) or fear of walking into a bar like that alone and looking like a loser, of fear of walking into a bar like that and looking vulnerable, or fear of walking in and finding McKilt there with someone else and not having anyone to talk to.
Anyway. I didn’t turn off the car. Just pulled back away from the curb and came home. Who knew I had a fear of walking into a bar alone?

It may be a fear, but are you sure it’s a generalized and/or irrational fear? I mean, fear isn’t always inappropriate, you know?

Good point. I stand by the sketchiness of the scene outside, which would have only gotten worse as time went on. Had I been there alone, walking back to the car unaccompanied would have been foolhardy.
