200 times a year??!?

That’s about 4 times a week, people.

That’s what Dr. Oz says about how often we should be having orgasmic sex with someone we love in order to “be healthy.”

I crafted that sentence carefully. He doesn’t mean solo orgasms. He doesn’t mean anonymous sex. He doesn’t mean perfunctory sex.

200 times a year. That’s a lot of energy to get ready for that. A lot of flirting and conversation. A lot of casual touching and hugging. A lot of helping out around the house and the yard. A lot of time spent talking out the stresses of work and other scheduling crap so that you’re ready for that. A lot of time the kids have to be sleeping (or occupied) before you’re falling asleep on the couch.

200 times a year. 4 times a week. Or 5 times a week with a week off once a month. Just to have break. Of course you could combine that into marathon sessions on the weekends, but there’s that whole scheduling of weekend chores and child care thing…

200 times a year.

I’ve got some catching up to do at some point…

I’m just saying.

Question 10: According to Dr. Oz, how often should you have sex?
A) Once a week
B) Twice a week
C) 10 times a month
D) 200 times a year or more

The correct answer is D.

“If you have more than 200 orgasms a year, you can reduce your physiologic age by six years,” Dr. Oz says. He bases the number on a study done at Duke University that surveyed people on the amount and quality of sex they had. “They looked at what happened to folks that are having a lot of intercourse over time, and the fact is, it correlated.”

Among the benefits of having sex often, Dr. Oz says, is that it can prove that your body is functioning as it is supposed to. “But in addition, having sex with someone that you care for deeply is one of the ways we achieve that Zen experience that we all crave as human beings,” he says. “It’s really a spiritual event for folks when they’re with someone they love and they can consummate it with sexual activity … seems to offer some survival benefit.”

Wow, my husband and I have a great relationship, but I can’t image having sex together that often. It’s an intimidating number. And doesn’t Dr. Oz realize were not all in junior college anymore? What would the neighbors think.

I see chef 2-4 times a week, so I would say we are up to par on that…I’d hate to think that’s what’s keeping us healthy…hopefully not all that’s keeping us together!
