Another opening, another show!
Tonight went well. Very well! I’m actually quite in awe of the rest of the cast pulling this off as well as they did with as few run throughs as we’ve had.
‘The Medley’ was a hit. dammit. Actual applause. There’s no way we can cut it now! There’s part of me that doesn’t want to admit it but the director was right. It worked. And now, I’ll have to continue to sing Dude Looks Like a Lady…along with the rest of the nonsense. Actually, as I think about it, it’s just the sort of low-brow humor that Shakespeare would have put into the show. Did put into the show, only the low brow raunchiness is missed by modern audiences because double-entendre in blank verse is somehow high-brow…400 years later, that is.
DS2 ’s review is summed up in this comment: “Well, it was less confusing that the movie ‘Hero‘”
Ok, then.
It was fun. I said all my lines correctly. I played almost all the right notes. An old friend from an old job came to see the show. It was beautiful weather. Picture perfect really. Clear blue sky. Started at about 69 degrees. Finished in 1 hour 49 minutes. The cast went to The Green Mill for a beer afterwards. Someone from the board actually came and bought appetizers, which was a nice show of support (especially considering the crap way they’ve produced the show so far.)
It was a great night!
