Summer Vacation Begins

So, here we are. NO SCHOOL TODAY.

DS1 is going to Valley Fair with friends today. I have to drop him at someone’s house at 9:00 a.m. (which is a good long sleep-in for him.) I’m not too pleased with him skipping a baseball game to do it, but it’s his team, and it’s a Dad evening, so I guess I have nothing to say about it. Much. That will count.

DS2 has nothing on the schedule for the day, so I’m sure he’ll sleep, watch pointless TV and basically lounge around. Sort of like how I’ve been for the last couple of weeks (HA!) I’m trying to figure out when I can take him and some friends out to Valley Fair, but it’s looking like not for a couple of weeks would we both have a whole day with no appointments.

Me? I’m spending the morning at LN’s trying trying trying to get started on these projects that have to be finished a week from Friday. Shoulder-ectomy with Uli at 1:00, then to church to proof bulletins. I do have a first date dinner planned for tonight at that fabulous little Italian restaurant I fould with Z&AH a few weeks ago. We’ll see how that turns out. At least I know the food will be good. (Maybe I should work on my attitude a little today, hmm?)

Biggest disappointment about how we’re starting this summer is that the house is still a disaster zone and that will make it more difficult to impress on these adorable youngsters the necessity of them doing their chores before they fritter away their days. Difficult, but not impossible. If I can just manage to motivate myself to get the chart up and some basic paths dug. I’m also tempted to talk to Neighbor BT about hiring some of her Spanish speaking friends to whip this yard/garden into shape. I just can’t get everything done and it’s getting away from me. There are volunteer bushes in front of almost every window and too close around the air-conditioner condenser. It’s all got to get trimmed. I’d assign the boys to it but I’m not even around enough to supervise/guide them. I don’t know.

It’s been hot and muggy here since Monday. Almost like late July/August weather. I’ve already got the air conditioner on. I hate having the house closed up again already, but there’s just nothing for it when it’s tropical like this.
