A few stories
One from a blog I read regularly:
Sugared Harpy a soon to be divorced art professor discovers some interesting pricing options for private insurance.
(I’d like to include more here. Leave your link in the comments and I’ll move it here.)
And some I searched out:
R-Squared Energy tells the story of his first experience with Universal Health Care in Scotland.
An article that outlines some of the statistics of what is going on in the US around uninsured and costs.
The Commonwealth Club Fund reports that “Compared with five other nations—Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom—the U.S. health care system ranks last or next-to-last on five dimensions of a high performance health system: quality, access, efficiency, equity, and healthy lives. “Tip of the hat to T’ings and Times” whose conclusion I have to agree with: “That’s what we get for accepting the idea that somebody should make a profit every time we get sick.”
A list of articles I’m wading through are here including some that define the difference between “single-payer” and socialized insurance” vs. “socialized medicine” and some of the other obfuscation being bandied about by the stakeholders who want to hang on to the status quo (i.e. the insurance executives who are making BILLIONS in profits while our costs continue to rise.)
Catherine Morgan writes a fairly comprehensive post (from what I can tell by skimming it) on the reports and studies that indicate there is a Growing Health Care Crisis and the Uninsured. Lots of lovely links to follow, read and digest.

Just a quick correction - the healthcare report you cite was released by the Commonwealth Fund, not the Commonwealth Club. But we thank you for the publicity nonetheless!
All the best,

Oops. I’ll make the correction. Thanks Gloria!
