8 things

Well, it doesn’t look like I’ll get out of it because BOTH Abbagirl74 and Proxima tagged me with this on the same day! I’m not one to mess with signs and people that there is a sign. So, here goes.

* * * * * * *

1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.

2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Here are the 8 random bits of goodness:

1. I’ve played the accordion for 40 years, the piano for 30 and been a conductor for 26. Really. When I was a kid, I would take lessons even through the summer and if left to my own devices I would practice 6-8 hours a day. In college I switched over to piano and would still manage to squeeze in 6 or so hours even during the school year! As an adult I’ve never been able to put those kind of hours in and sometimes I miss it.

2. I love to be immersed in learning things. I loved the two summers in Aspen at the Music Festival because I was there to learn and spent days in class and in the library and studying scores. I also love graduate school for the same reasons plus the joy of being surrounded by people whose eyes didn’t glaze over when I wanted to talk about some esoteric theological or musical topic. mmmmm, intellectual debate. Yummy!

3. I have lived in Minnesota my whole life (so far.) Even though I grew up in the heart of “Minnesota Nice” I have always been told I’m “too direct” or “blunt.” Makes me think I’d fit right in out East.

4. According to my golf teacher, I have longish arms for someone of my height. I have to believe him because petite shirts never fit quite right.

5. I do not find shopping to be a recreational activity. In fact, I rather loath it.

6. I generally put others’ needs ahead of my own. Sometimes to the detriment of my own health and happiness.

7. I tend to continue to have hope in situations and in people that most people would give up on. Usually it’s hope that they’ll live up to the potential I see in them. Sometimes to the detriment of my own health and happiness. Sometimes this could be called “being a romantic” other times “living in faith” and still other times “blind to the facts.” It’s hard for me to tell except in hindsight which situation was which.

8. I love cooking for crowds. If someone else would clean up the house before and after, I would have people over at least once a week. It feeds the extrovert in me, the creativeness, the show-off and the clown. The key is the cleaning up though. I really hate that part. My very favorite thing is when I cook for my boys and they ask for seconds because “that was good!”

Ok. Now the hard part! Who am I going to tag???? It seems almost everyone I read has done this meme already. Except for: Rich, Stepping over the Junk, Inside Betty’s Head, Neilochka, The Diva, Churlita and two others of you that want to self-tag.

A year ago on This Journey I was comforting DS1.

I’m with you on the cooking and cleaning aspect. I love to cook also. Thanks for doing this. :)

Great job with the tag! I enjoyed them all, even though they aren’t all pleasent things, I can still empathize.

The first one is my favorite. I would like to learn the piano eventually. My Grandma tried to teach me a little when I went to visit her, but there’s only so much a five-year-old can learn in an hour. :>

Darn. I’ve already done this one a while back. I love yours, though.
