bread, wine and which cheese?
So, Mr. Hockey and I are going to see “1408″ on Wednesday and I suggested a little picnic supper before hand. I thought cold (aka leftover from the night before) grilled salmon, a good crusty bread, a french white burgundy (Pouilly-Fuisse “La Roche” 2004) and cheese and strawberries….but what cheese?
btw- yay for computers and airport modems that work!

Ooh! Do a light cheese. Perhaps a French brie or French camembert? It would be easy to spread as well. The camembert is buttery and definitely one of my favorites!
Hope all goes well!

I would say any 80’s pop music would do.
Oh, wait. Wrong cheese.

Abbagirl, that was my first instinct too, but wonder if there are other, more interesting choices.
Rich- that cheese would entirely overshadow every other flavor…but you’re right…it would be the cheesiest!

My favorite is 2-year aged Gouda. It’s not too dissimilar from extra sharp cheddar, but with almost a candied ambiance to it. Hard to explain, but it’s a bit on the pricey side, so I love to get it as a special treat for myself. Expect to pay $7-$11 for a decent size chunk.
