T -4

My boys ROCK. I had a goal last night of ’starting’ to get packed so that I could see what was missing, if we needed a different/additional bag, etc.

We pretty much have it done. Well, except for my bag. (heh!)

So the next 4 days will be for tidying up the joint. Turns out my grandmother was right, all those years ago. It’s way better to come home to clean house with clean sheets on the bed.

Yesterday was a bit of an adventure. When I came home from court, I changed clothes and was ready to head out the door to the staff meeting and nice lunch when I got a call from the synod office. They needed some paperwork from me yesterday if I was going to be on the August endorsement panel schedule. (I looked back at the recent emails. No mention of that deadline anywhere.)

So I had to sit right down and write it out. I used some of what I had written for my CPE final evaluation and just pretty much free associated to fill in the gaps. (It’s a good thing I pretty much think about this stuff all day everyday and especially the last couple of days while I’ve been discerning whether to take LN’s job and how I was going to keep any sense of balance if I did.)

So 2 and a half hours later I had a reasonable specimen of a 7 page endorsement essay ready to go. Printed it and hand delivered it, along with my CPE evaluations to the synod office. In the old days, I would have worked the whole afternoon on re-writing, word-smithing and adding to it. I guess when you’re a tourist in the “Land of Good Enough” for long enough some of the customs start to rub off. Still, I’m sure there are plenty of people who won’t believe someone could put together an endorsement essay in under a full day.

At that point, I has burned a lot of stress fuel and my brain was pretty toasted. So, I made the executive decision to take the boys for lunch and to run errands (that I had originally thought we’d do on Thursday.) We got home around 5 o’clock. Crashed for a bit and then started the aforementioned packing.

Oh! And I got a call from the pastor of the church in Snohomish asking to set up an interview for when I’ll be out there. I had to tell him that I had to remove my name from consideration. Kind of awkward. I did give the post to RS and called her and told her why I thought she should give this guy a call. I hope she follows up. I’d like to see them find a top-notch theological musician.

Today’s plan includes: working for LN, haircut, a little church work (proofing bulletins), and ending with dinner and a movie with Mr. Hockey.

I’ve been out of the loop. I feel like an ass, but:

    1) What trial? It’s been referred to before, but I don’t know what it is.
    2) Did you take the job?

I should do a little search on your site. I know, I know.
