Assisting minister

prayers of intercession for tonight’s eucharist

*********

Called, gathered and empowered to serve, let us pray for the church, the world and all those in need.

Dearest Jesus, we ask you to teach us how to pray; how to be with you boldly, shamelessly. Even when we are too busy, or too doubtful that you hear us, or too afraid to tell you what is on our heart. Fill us with your Holy Spirit who will pray for us even when our own words fail.

ELW 402 st. 1

God of justice and hope, we pray for all the leaders of this world. Move their hearts with your compassion and their minds with wisdom and the desire to work for justice and peace and the common good.

We pray for all who live daily with hatred and violence; from war or within their own homes. Preserve and protect them that they may know your enduring love.

We pray for students and teachers preparing to return to school; especially the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission and school. Send them teachers equipped to serve that community.

We pary for all who are ill in body, mind or spirit and for those who watch and wait with them. We pray especially for P&K Haines as they await the birth of their grandchild. And Lord, we pray for all these we now name silently or aloud.

(pause)

Answer their cries for help, O Lord, and increase their strenghth.

ELW 402 St. 2

Good and gracious God, give us eyes to see where our gifts are needed and the courage and strength to be your hands in the world. We give you thanks for the gift of community, especially the community of Holden Village.  Bless all the people who come into and go out of our lives. Give us the grace to be little christs to one another, living lives filled with service and love.

All these things and whatever else you know that we need, we ask boldly and shamelessly, trusting in your mercy.
