Most Awesome-est friends EVER

everyone has left after the celebratory BBQ and I’m waiting for Mr. Hockey to call.

Ok. I’m actually not waiting for him to call, but I’m expecting him to call because he said he would. What I’m doing is catching up with blogosphere friends and writing this here post.

The par-tay was awesome. The steaks (sirloins cut by the butcher shop) were tender and tasty. SH and ZH were the MEN in charge of the fire-in-grill. And therefore cooked the steaks to medium rare perfection. Well, perfect for everyone but HJ who had to put hers back on the grill for a bit.

AH brought cole slaw, RS brought bread and crackers, SH brought cheeze and wine, SM brought a delicious cookie/fruit dessert pizza thingy. I forgot the potato salad in the freezer but we had enough without it.

Conversation was about work, and people moving, and buying new houses, and love-lives (mine mostly!!!) and new jobs (purpose of the celebration) and politics and the ELCA vote that strongly recommends that bishops not be “required” to censure congregations that call homosexual pastors in committed relationships (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and vacations and…and …and ….

all the sorts of things that a group of good friends are apt to talk about.

And we played “Celebrity” Taboo. Which was funny because we all don’t spend hardly any time focusing on ‘celebrities’ but RS who knew every rapper answer all night (and she’s the St.Olaf vocal major!!!!) We threatened to take away her degree because of the amount of detail she knew about rappers beyond Will Smith and SnoopDogg (and trust me….I know I’m not even spelling THAT correctly!!!)

It was a very good night. everyone had a great time. I’m soooooo glad I can host it. I love doing that. It’s why I wanted to buy this house and why I’m really glad I kept it in the divorce. Entertaining that goes far far beyond triteness into community building.

And all that is not even taking into consideration all my AWESOME blogosphere friends. You know who you are. The ones who cheer me on and remind and assure me that I’m not crazy. I wish I could have you all over for steaks too.

Maybe someday.

to quote Mr. Hockey…life IS good. Especially these days.
