It still leaks
In the category of “What a pain in the arse” we have two entries today.
First, the house still leaks during a severe thunderstorm.
I guess you have to expect that from a 95 year old house.
We had some doozie of a storm both Saturday morning (2 a.m.) and last night. There’s evidence of water coming in in the bathroom (puddle behind the john) and a bit on the stove (plaster dust on the exhaust hood and a dirty water ring on the top of the cook top.)
I should check to make sure all the storm windows were closed. Maybe it’s leaking in through a window sill? I really thought we had this licked when the guy caulked all the cracks for weatherization.
dammit.
And our second item is a hummdinger! (I’m doing my best not to obsess and freak the f**k out about,)
I discovered that Budget Rental made an error in billing me for the rental car. They charged my credit card almost $4000!!!! I’ve been on the phone and need to fax the rental agreement. The guy at the desk first offered me a car for $900 for the 12 days. I said that was too much. What makes them think I would have signed an agreement for $4000 instead??? Even the “standard” rate for the car I got for 12 days is only $695.
I’m kind of sick to my stomach about this one. I really aren’t in the position to “donate” 4 grand to Budget.
Other than that Life Is Good.

Ugh. What a pain. But probably an eaisily winnable chargeback. Did you call your CC company?

leaky anything is a bad horrible annoying thing. As is fixing a wrong bill or dealing with customer service when we’ve been wronged.

Eek, best of luck in both scenarios!
I agree that your Credit card needs to be informed if you haven’t done so already. Hopefully it will be resolved soon, I would also be stressed about it.
Do you have windows by both of the places where water is leaking? If not, I would have the flashing checked on the things atop your roof. Seams where roofing fixtures meet the rooftop are the primary suspects for most leaks, but it’s hard to say without being able to physically look at the house.

I wonder what happened. Have you called the rental place to see what they were charging you for?
