Endorsement “conversation”

check!

Not nearly as grueling or emotional a conversation as I expected it to be. Heck, not as emotional as the Investiture conversation last December. Probably because there was no “decision” riding on it. It was a courtesy conversation with members of the synod candidacy panel. They have no decision they can make at this point since the Deaconess Community chose to invest me.

The hardest part of the morning was getting up and looking/feeling/sounding energetic when what I felt (still feel) is warm and fuzzy and in that sort of post-something fog. All stemming from a really good date last night with Mr. Hockey. We took a longish walk in a park near his house where he usually bikes 8-9 miles a day. We took some of the cross-country paths. Conversation was deep and revolved around who we are as people. It was led by him. Honestly, I didn’t initiate any of that stuff! In fact, I found it a little hard to launch into the “how do I reconcile being a church geek and a sexual being all at the same time…and does it need to be reconciled at this point in this case?” conversation. Ahem. Yes. Well. He asked….and answered for himself too.

As I said it was a beautiful walk. The park is seriously under-utilized as we didn’t see anyone else for well over an hour. Given that, it wouldn’t be a park I’d cycle/walk alone…too isolated. But given that I wasn’t alone…. it was quite nice.

Afterward, we went back to his house. I hung out for a bit while he went to his son’s hockey clinic (too soon to meet kids as far as I’m concerned) and then we had a delicious salad (that I made, thank you very much) with fresh carrot-ginger dressing.  And then maybe a little making-out…maybe.

The hardest part of the evening was leaving. Just saying.

Things sound so great between you two. I love a man who can initiate the right kind of conversation. I can’t wait to see how things progress.
