Saturday reflections

I took my time getting up this morning. YM had stayed over at a friend’s–soon it will be the norm, not having her around as she is moving out next Saturday–and it was just me and Libby. I needed to be at the ISAIAH leadership retreat, but my leadership part was at the very end of the day, and I had no one from the congregation attending so why rush to be there at the beginning. Besides, I woke up without yesterday’s level 2 migraine but with a full-fledge migraine hangover. So I took it easy. Arriving at the church on the east-side of St. Paul around 10:30. And you know what? No one died because I was late!!!!! And no one was mad!!!! Amazing. I know.

In fact, it was so amazing that I actually didn’t participate with 100% of my attention. I sort of phoned it in. And no one died!!!!!! And no one was mad!!!! At one point I actually left the room and went into the “lounge” — every church has a room like this. Sometimes it’s called the fireside room. It’s the room with the comfy chairs that the family gathers in before funerals. Anyway, I wandered in there and leaned my head back and took a little 10 minute nap!!!!! And no one died!!!!! GS did wander by on his way to the men’s room and make a comment, but I just said, “I’m sort of participating and sort of not.” And no one died!!!!! And if he was mad that’s his problem.

Geeze! This sloughing off is easier than I thought!

Anyway, came home around 3:30 and took a nap. When it comes down to it, I’m probably too old (or at least too out of practice) to stay out past 1 a.m. two nights in a row…much less 2 nights in the same week. So the headache yesterday and the exaggerated migraine hangover feeling today was primarily FATIGUE.

So throughout my afternoon snooze I listened to “This American Life” and whatever else came on after that and before “Prairie Home Companion” and basically took a lovely afternoon off. One of the things I realized as I snoozed and thought and eventually got up and did a few things around the house is how much I’ve missed and how much I actually enjoy a man’s body.

There I said wrote it. Did anybody die?????? Is anyone mad???? I didn’t think so.
