Is it weird?
I have been separated for 3 years (come Oct 4).
I have been officially divorced for almost 1 year (come Oct 13.)
Is it weird that one of the first things my mom asked my sister when my sister returned from the hospital after my grandmother had been moved up to her room after surgery was “Does Uncle or Grandma know that NFH is divorced?”
Is it weird that she was relieved and satisfied when my sister said “Not from me!”
OK. Let me rephrase those questions. I know it’s weird….how weird is it?
Also, does this mean I’m not allowed to bring a date to any family gatherings or, God forbid, funerals? For how long?
And people wonder why I am the way I am about them.

I think you should bring dates if you want and be who you are, you’re family will just have to deal with it.

my dad and his girlfriend and my mother are all coming to dinner on Sunday to meet my new guy! (it’s been a few months of us together, but still!) Ignore what your family thinks or says and just do what you are comfortable with. It helps my family is all on the west coast (except my mom is hear near me). Not much family pressure.
