It was a good party. Much XBox and Nerf air-gun. Much laughter and pizza and cake and pop and Twizzlers.
I’m either a really bad mom or I rock because I got him “Halo3.” Most of the kids (including mine) have played it a bit already this week but this sounded like fun with 4 controllers. They also played some racing game and soccer.
One girl, 9 boys. Including DS1 who thought he’d get out of it but his fancy in-town college friend was actually visiting with his family and not his old high-school buddies. Go figure. I think DS1 had fun anyways. Although, 3 guesses, based on facial expressions, which one is DS1…and the first guess doesn’t count.
(I don’t know why, but right now Wordpress is not giving me the option of inserting a thumbnail. The full size is too big and grainy, so there’s link. I’ll fix it later if I remember.)
This is what I did while performing my “invisible/visible Mom” act.
One thing. They’re a lot louder when their voices change. Of the 11 that were there probably 3 were still in the treble range. The others? All big, low and loud. OMG.
They’re with X today because it’s an odd numbered year. As I did in May for DS1’s b-day I’ve made sure I’ve got something else going on so that I’m not just sitting around the house noticing how empty it is on his b-day.
Today, Mr. Hockey is coming over. We’ll have Sunday dinner (meat loaf and garlic mashed potatoes…hey! it’s fall and I need a little comfort food) And if it’s doesn’t rain dogs and cats and gerbils we’ll take a walk.

What’s for dessert, may I ask? Sounds like a pleasant day for you.
You know what? I am so very happy for you. I just remember how it was several months ago, and now look at you. You are happy, healthy, and just loving life. You go girl!

Mr Hockey and meatloaf and mashed potatoes sounds like perfect distractions to me.
