Has anyone else noticed?
that there are now two former Democratic executive office holders that have won the Noble prize?
Carter in 2002, and now Gore in 2007
All I’m saying is, while I’m not so naive to think that Gore or Carter aren’t from the privileged class, they don’t seem to be all that interested in using their privilege and power to protect their position over and against those of us who aren’t of that strata but are attempting to use their power and privilege for the common good.
To me, these are examples of what leadership in public life is really all about.
And all this about urging Gore to run again for president? I hope he doesn’t. Not because I don’t think he’d make a good president. I think he’d make a good one and I’d vote for him. But I hope he doesn’t because I think he’d be limited in what he could accomplish by the trade-offs involved in having to work within the belt-way. Now he has the flexibility and freedom to speak the truth without party pundits putting the squeeze on him in order to protect the party.
