How did I miss this??

Robert Goulet has died! Several days ago!

Now, I know he’s probably not even corny enough to be hip again, but Robert Goulet is one of the reasons I love musical theater!

His portrayal of Lancelot in Camelot, broadcast in grainy black and white…or at least viewed in grainy black and white at my Grandma’s house is also one of the reasons I’ve read every single version of the Arthur legend I could get my hands on.

I think Grandma probably thought he was pretty sexy. Maybe my mom did too. I definately remember that we kids were “hushed” whenever he was on the teevee.

His appearances on the Carol Burnett show were fabulous. Funny. Artistic. Sensitive. I think if I had a girlhood crush on anyone aside from Captain Kirk, it was probably Robert Goulet.

Of course, that became too uncool to admit by the early 80’s and I pretty much forgot about him. But listening to old recordings (one great one plays on his official website) is a reminder of what a great artist and musician he was.

Mr. Goulet, thanks for everything. Enjoy the new choir gig.
