Webbie Activism

I suppose I’m probably really late to the party, but I heard about this site on NPR tonight on my way home from the theater. (actually it was on the Canadian Show “Future Tense” which is in the middle of “As it Happens” which has possibly the coolest theme song in the history of radio.)

This site: Freerice.com is run by the same guy who started Poverty.com

Take a minute and go play some word games and earn some rice to feed people who have no food. The cool part is that the advertisers pay the money, the guy gives it to the UN, they buy the rice locally (and add money to the local economy) and then the rice is given to starving people.

All you have to do is click on some words.

What are you waiting for? Go!

That sounds so cool. I can’t do it at work, but I’ll try to do it later at home if I remember.
