Spirit

The word for today’s Saturday photo scavenger challenge is Spirit.

that’s a pretty challenging word. The first thing that sprang to mind was a photo my great-grandfather took. He was a character apparently and would take double-exposures for jokes. One of his most famous is of a man snoozing in an arm chair next to the fire place and a double exposure “ghost” of his wife walking towards him in a billowing white Victorian night dress. But I don’t have a copy of that photo.

I did find a developed negative in the film holder of one of his cameras. My dad gave me Great-grandfathers Conley Safety camera for my birthday a couple of months ago and we found the negative when we were opening everything up.

A friend helped me develop it and then scanned it in so that I could adjust it a big and I made copies for my brother, sister and nephews and of course for my dad. I think it comes under spirit for me because of the spirit of family that it represents.

Of course I couldn’t let this word pass without thinking of “team spirit” (or teen spirit, if you will….)

Here is DS1 with his goofy friends at a girls’ volleyball game. As I said the first time I shared this photo, I’m relieved that you can see everyone’s boxers.

Be sure and check out the other Saturday Photo Scavenger links on the right!! I’m sure they’ll have some lovely holiday type takes on the word.

Wow, that’s a lot of spirit for some volleyball.

Love the soft BW. Great spirit of giving, too.

I like the spirit everyone has shown for my little idea. You got some good takes on the word as well. I just posted mine finally…

Those are excellent! I think any boy not showing his boxers would be embarrassed nowadays :-)

I love that last photo. Those fans who put letters on their stomachs to support a team definitely have lots o’spirit!
