why?
Why ask why?
It’s echos of that ancient conversation Jesus had to put up with (John 9:1-3) I suppose, but it still bugs me that that is the primary response from my family of origin on this whole thing. Trying to figure out how I am to blame. Without even knowing if the doc found and removed anything on Thursday. The whole conversation was shrouded in “everyone was concerned about you.” and they missed you yesterday, etc., etc.
My favorite was: “SIL says that polyps are the beginning of cancer. Did they tell you why you had them?”
WFT?
You mean how I’ve not been exercising or eating right or (eegads!) have “caught” it from a man?? Or some other sort of moral flaw like not visiting my grandmother enough?
Why can’t I just be sick and maybe you could call and check up on me? Or even, I don’t know, if you think it’s pre-cancer, show up at the effing hospital?
Like I said earlier. I’m cranky.
Oh. And I’m just fine. Really.

The general population has no clue what being supportive means. One can only give them so many byes before going postal.

Families are wonderful for the most part, but they do tend to say the worst things at the worst times. I am glad you’re okay, though. My mom had polyps removed and they were benign. I supposed polyps are like cysts where some of them are cancerous while some are benign. It is not necessarily the beginning of cancer. Sheesh! Talk about freaking you out!
