2008 - another new start
Healthy dining as a hallmark of a new years’ celebration:
Dinner last night was hazelnut encrusted salmon, roasted potatoes and asparagus and a beautiful Cabernet from my collection. I should have taken a picture because it was beautiful. And delicious.
We watched movies and snuggled on the couch and then watched the Prairie Home Companion New Years’ special for the countd0wn. And Libby the Wonder Poodle made us laugh frequently.
Brunch today was hash (made by Mr. Hockey) with potatoes, onion, left-over bacon from Christmas and left-0ver asparagus. Delicious.
Dinner was boneless pork chops with roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup ‘gravy’, corn and biscuits.
Oh! and we had hot cocoa and Christmas cookies when we came back from an afternoon walk (a short walk because the wind chill was below zero!) But even though the walk was short, it “counts” toward walking more!
It was a much nicer way to spend NYE and NYD than last year.
Mr. Hockey has left for home now and DS2 is due home in the next hour or so. DS1 is out with friends again.
Hope you all had a wonderful and safe celebration.
Peace.

Aha, I sense contentment. The food sounds delicious. I just love it when people talk about food. It’s just one of my “things”. I wish I could be a food critic. What a dream job!
I am so glad you had a wonderful time. Did you let Mr. Hockey know we all think he is a hottie?

Happy New Year, Not Faint Hearted!
This post makes me hungry for comfort food.
Your post about work (above) makes me feel for you. It seems your torn between what you do and what you want to do. If that’s the case, I certainly understand that feeling.
But good for you for pursuing your church work. I work with volunteers and I know how hard it is to find someone like you. I hope your paid work can support you in your community function ultimately so that you can have a livable and productive balance.
