caucus night

I stayed up way too late last night watching the triumphant (?) return of my TeeVee boyfriend Craig Ferguson. (Letterman was better…Craig, you should have had a guest. just saying)

Tonight I did basically nothing. The boys were with their dad, Mr. Hockey was busy with outdoor hockey practice (not something I’m going to ask to be invited to) and there wasn’t really any play-by-play coverage of caucus stuff that I could find.

I stayed up and watch a little BBC coverage on public broadcasting. I’m very glad Obama did as well as he did. I’m still torn between the top three democratic candidates. They each bring important strengths to the table, IMHO, but I’m very very satisfied that Obama came in first.

I don’t know what to make of the Republican results. Isn’t McCain running?

Oh! one thing I heard that I thought was impressive and Yay! Iowans! I’m proud of you!! 220,000 people turned out for the democratic caucus and around 100,000 for the republican caucus. Both higher, much higher turn out than last time. I truly hope that this is a trend and that we as a people will step up and participate and not be drugged into a stupor by the sophomoric and soporific reporting.

Off to bed. Tomorrow will be a big day. Back to back meetings (with one off site) from 9 until 4:30. I hate days like that.

The caucuses can be very tiring. There is a lot of shouting and deal making, but the process is fascinating.
