Down to the wire, and other mundane crap

I worked from home this afternoon, so that I could work in my jammies and in bed. I feel a little better but now the rubber has got to hit the road. DS2 is home (at the usual time….so he’s had some decompression time by now) and DS1 is due home soon from a math meet.

I’m going to drag my coughing, aching, sneezing a$$ out of this bed and put the spaghetti sauce back on the stove. We’re having spags tonight and tomorrow (and if they don’t like it, they can make their own pizza rolls.)

Then, I’m going to moan and whimper my way through bossing them around until the downstairs is reasonably cleared of clutter and “ewwww” so that 16 people can sit in chairs tomorrow and balance a plate of spaghetti, salad, bread and a glass of wine on their laps while talking and peering through the candle-light to see across the room.

(Because candle-light doesn’t illuminate the 1/4 inch layer of dust protective coating on every horizontal surface, that’s why.)

Oh. And I have to go in to the office tomorrow, at least until 3 p.m.

By all that is holy in this world and the next, I hereby solemnly swear that I will redouble my efforts to keep up with the clutter and the mess if these boys will just help me tonight without snarking at each other or giving me the “I’m tired, how much more do we have to do” look/whine. May I also beg and beseech the holy angels to get my beloved spawn to move swiftly and without their own moaning so that we can all retire to our comfortable and warm beds by, let’s say 10:30?

Hey, every girl has a dream.
