The one where I get to “parent” everybody

1. I love my boys. But Monday they annoyed me. Repeatedly.

Exhibit A - the call at 1:00 p.m. from the park coordinator letting me know that DS2 has park baseball practice tomorrow night at 6:30. Really? I didn’t even know he was playing park ball. In fact, I’m quite certain that last summer we all (ALL) decided that playing on two teams at the same time was a BAD IDEA. Apparently bad idea = sign the kid up and don’t tell Mom. At least according to X. His excuse when I called him on it? “I didn’t know how soon it would start.” and “I only just called to get him on the team on Saturday. I called at like 11:30 and they closed at 12:00.” Can I just say: WTF? (He also, actually had the balls to say to me “Well, I told DS2.”)

Exhibit B - DS1 comes into the house at 6:15 and greets me with “What’s for dinner? I’m going over to DL’s house at 8:00 to watch the hockey game.” Uh, really? After you didn’t do a thing all weekend? You seriously come in this way? Demanding dinner because you think you’re going to stay out until midnight on a school night? Yeah, I don’t think so. (And just for the record, it is 11:40 and they’re at extra intermission and waiting for the OT period to start. So Mom was right. Sorry.)

Exhibit C - 11:25 p.m. DS1 comes downstairs (he came home from DL’s house at 10:00) and says “Do you have $30 I can have for baseball shoes?” Because apparently being the mother of a teenage boy means I’m a cook, a maid, a laundress AND an ATM. A 24-hour ATM.

The phrase “nibbled to death by ducks” crosses my mind.

Note to self: MC moved in today. More on that later.

Oh man, It’s like looking in a mirror. Girls are exactly the same. it’s all about me meeting their needs with very little appreciation. I hear that they get better when they’re older, but then they’ll be living far away and I’ll probably complain about that too.

I feel your pain…or at least your sense of irritation. I have to lay down a few new laws at my house.

X’s reasoning is really strange. It’s like a bank robber saying “But the bank was closing in 10 minutes!” It doesn’t relate. On the other stuff, I can so, so relate.

MC? Lord, the things I miss when things get crazy.
