maturity: over-rated?

It was really good to be with my sisters again. KA and SW and I are sharing a room. Even though some of these women really prefer to have their own room, we feel the need to have that bonding time of drinking like fish in our room after the official end of the day.

Others of the women do too. We spent some time with MD, MA and JW next door last night. Rot-gut liquor and cheap wine flowed freely. When the three of us returned to our room we were a little worse for wear. Sharing stories, analyzing the day, predicting the events for the next day.

Around midnight we talked with SW’s sister. KA is running a marathon in her city next month and wants someone to be cheering her on around mile fifteen. And then the conversation turned to boys…as all good slumber party conversations are wont to do. I showed them McKilt’s myspace page and they agree with most of you.

Good judgment being at low tide, a drunk email to McKilt may or may not have been sent around 2 AM.

The business meetings today were a bit tension filled, but not nearly as painful as two years ago. Worship went more or less smoothly. Although I am clearly more tense than I need to be because I had a migraine in the morning. I’m chalking it up to dehydration, stress of having to do all the set up alone because AL didn’t arrive until 10 minutes before the first session started, and having to sleep with a very loud room fan on because the windows don’t open.

This evening I learned that I am not very light on my feet, as the women below us heard every step back and forth across the room. Until 2:30 or so. Forgiveness flowed easily, with the rejoinder: “I’m not telling you to make you feel bad. I’m telling you so it doesn’t happen again!”

Point taken, sister. Bedtime is early tonight.

You have to cut loose and relax. Taking everything in life so seriously makes you old in a hurry. I am 36 and could pass for my early 20s!! Stress, screw stress.

It sounds like exactly what you needed. What’s better than drunken girl time? Since I seem to be the queen of drunken texting, and speaking from my own experience, as long as the email you sent McKilt was playful and fun, I’m sure he loved it. I’ve never met a guy who didn’t like that kind of communication.

Maturity is misdefined, I think. Anyway, you non-alcoholics deserve to kick out the jams every now and again. Just take off your shoes.
