Grateful Too

Some stuff that’s making me feel good this week. In no particular order:

  1. DS2 had a beautiful and impressive showcase project for the end of 8th grade
  2. DS1 said his finals were "easy" even though I know they are serious exams in the International Baccalaureat program.
  3. I have a friend who is going to help me pick paint colors so I can get over the fear of picking the wrong color.
  4. I made a beautiful arugula pasta lunch Friday when BP came to "consult" on paint colors.
  5. I have friends who insist they’ll come and help me paint.
  6. The weather Saturday was picture perfect and I was able to spend some time enjoying it.
  7. We got to celebrate the end of cancer treatment for SL, a boy who is two days older than DS2 and like a brother to both my boys. (I wrote about the beginning of his journey here, here, here  and here.) Is there a better reason to celebrate?!?!
  8. I was given a pair of tickets to the Minnesota orchestra for this weekend. I went Saturday after SL’s party and had a marvelous time. And I saw people I knew during the intermission and had a nice conversation.
  9. I’m actually starting to like my workouts and I’m starting to feel better.
  10. DL’s husband is going to come and show me how to clean the carburator (and petcock) on my motorcycle.
  11. I got to ride my motorcycle to AB’s house this week and even though the fuel system proved to be dirt,y producing a very rough (and somewhat frustrating and possibly dangerous) ride, I handled the situation well and learned a lot during that ride about how to trust the balance, brakes, clutch and got a much better feel for the throttle.
  12. GB-M came to the ISAIAH meeting on Thursday simply because of me and despite the fact that some of the people there skeeve him out.
  13. I got to watch a movie with Alan Rickman ("Blow Dry")
  14. I’ve actually started the Great DeClutter of ‘08
  15. While cleaning my CD drawer I found a CD I forgot I had. (I bought it in San Antonio back in 2001 while working for a client down there. These guys had been playing at the restaurant where we had dinner one night. They were very good and I bought one of their CDs on the spur of the moment.) It was just the perfect sound-track to quiet afternoon of sorting stuff in the bookshelf and packing up some glassware.
  16. After an acrimonious growing up, several years of having to cut off all contact with him, and several more years of being angry as hell about how he treated me, I can’t say my relationship with my father is good, but at least it isn’t bad anymore.

The house I am buying literally is painted the entire place the same off white color. I so need to paint it, but I also am afeared of choosing color, especially with so much to do!

    Workouts - great.

Good for you for all of it. You seem so much happier than you were a little bit ago. I’m so glad.
