Writing, writing everywhere, but not a blog post in sight

Have  I mentioned that I’m reading Anne Lamott’s book "Bird by Bird"? Yeah, it’s a book about writing. And life. And writing.

And for some crazy-assed reason I find myself writing a lot more than usual. Not only for work but it’s like The Great Declutter of ‘08 is trying to knock loose a few stones in the old knoggin’ too. What’s that got to do with writing? No idea, except that there is no one person that could take the outpouring of crazy coming out of said psyche so I’m pouring it onto paper.

Yeah! That’s what I said! Paper??? Seriously? I’ve decided to filter and protect the innerwebs from all my shitty first drafts. (That’s a technical writing term from Anne.)

Not intentionally filter or protect (as one could surmise from this here post. For instance.) It just seems that there’s so much weird shit needing to be on paper that I find myself scribbling away when I don’t even have access to a computer!!!

No, not in the ladies room. Yet. But at a restaurant waiting for the person joining me for a business lunch. Or in the conference room waiting for people to show up for a meeting (yeah. We’re all about promptness at Corporate Torture. whatever.)

Anyway.

I actually have a post for yesterday that I’m going to back date. And I’m not even close to making an empty promise of more thoughtful and maybe edited posts around here. I just wanted to comment that it seems like words and thoughts and loosely related words are pouring out of my head at a rate that seems to be outstripping the clutter that’s leaving my house.

I wonder if that means I’ll soon be out of words, too?

I write a lot of posts on paper before I actually post them. A lot of times its because something came to mind and I don’t want to loose the thought, other times it is because something happens before my eyes. I keep a small notebook and pen in my backpack, I have my camera and the camera on my phone. I treat things like a reporter of late.

Good for you. I used to always write on paper when I was younger. I carried my journal with me wherever I went. I stopped doing that when I had kids and it all seemed impossible to writer anywhere ever.
