Finally Friday

I was roused from bed this morning by the sound of my cell phone. Seems my trainer sprained or broke her ankle last night so she’s on her way to the Urgent Care.

Now I’m faced with the moral dilemma: Do I work-out without her? Or take a pass?

I haven’t really been successful this week in adding significant cardio to session to my week. (I’m pretty sure that thinking about it as one loses consciousness on the couch doesn’t count.) By the time I get to the end of my days I’m as exhausted as if I had sweated through a 45 minute session, but the fact is my heart rate probably hadn’t elevated all day. Blood pressure, maybe. But not heart rate.

So, the question remains: Will I get my ass moving today or not?

Maybe I can make a deal with my inner slacker. If I give a workout a real try, I’ll get a prize. I could take a break from the Moratorium on Non-Essential Spending and go to the movies tonight.

Despite what the NYT reviewer says (or maybe because of it?) I’m eager to sit through this movie. I feel like I need some good old fashioned mindless entertainment. And what better to fit the bill than a musical of ear-worms accompanied by eye candy scenery? I’m refering of course to Greece, but I won’t deny the double entendre of Brosnan, Skarstad and Firth. Plus, I think it would be more like being at a party with Meryl and the boys where we all are being silly, and not trying to make Great Art. And how much fun would that be? (Besides, that’s what the movies are for in hard economic times….to help us poor plebs forget our worries for a couple of hours. Especially while the patricians start things on fire.)

These movies are best seen with someone who can laugh with you afterwards at how ridiculous it all was and how foolish that you were even there. Maybe my friend JvH wants to go…. then DS2 could see The Dark Night while we’re whooping it up in the theater next door.

From the CSA delivery yesterday. No idea why Wordpress won’t import a rotated image correctly. Grrrrr.

Oh, go work out! AND see a movie. And enjoy the beautiful carrots…

Exactly what NoRegrets said. You own yourself the work out AND the movie.

You guys are hilarious! Ok Ok. I’ll get out there and “groove my body” (as the MN public health PSAs say)

Charging up the ipod as I type….

I saw Mama Mia and it was just plain fun. I didn’t go expecting a film or anything. It was like a dance party on screen and yeah, it was confusing to figure out what year things took place, but you just had to suspend your disbelief and appreciate the spectacle.

Oh how I wish I was there or you were here. This is my favorite musical in the world and I haven’t seen it yet.
