Grateful #13

A full quarter of the year trying to remember to count my blessings, at least on a weekly basis. Some lists are longer than others.

A boss who is more unplugged and disaffected than I am.
Boys who realize when I’m done being push-over mommy.
SKYPE and being able to stay connected to friends who are family [...]

here but no

I worked from home yesterday and took the opportunity to take things very slow. I felt completely off all day. Weird off. Like shaky when I stood and muddied in my thinking. I hydrated and ate but it didn’t really help. I allowed myself to just watch as JMC had people help move her in. [...]

akismet

used to work perfectly. Without worry or fuss, mostly.
Today, I can’t even de-spam a couple of comments or delete the spam the filter caught.
Apologies to Churlita and 52faces.
I don’t have time to run down the source of this error and fight with Akismet just now.
Also, just a note that I’ve been unable [...]

9th grade open house

I ran the gauntlet of my day and made it to the open house 10 whole minutes early. X and DS2 walked in pretty much on time even though they had no where else to be before that. Whatever.
We met all the teachers, found all the rooms. Saw a few friends and found out that [...]

One week from today

The boys start school. DS1 begins his senior year. DS2 begins 9th grade. Both at the high school.
I feel like I’ve wasted the summer.
DS1 said they have soccer at 5:30. Of course, he didn’t tell me until after 9:00 last night. So they have to find their own ride. With the day I have, I [...]

And another thing

Sr K and J are in Mexico by now. Trying to figure out how to do… everything in Spanish.
I miss her and must try harder to get a headphone so that I can call her on Skype.

For the record

"Geez" is a swear word when you say it under your breath in that tone of voice and attitude. And don’t you swear at me.
And also, for the record: Me raising my voice at you is a "conversation". The same way you sleeping until 2 p.m. and spending the day playing X-Box and Wii [...]

Grateful No. 12

In an effort to remain positive and focused on the good and blessings I am surrounded with in my life, here is a list of a few of the things I’m grateful for this week:

Getting the Big Icky Project done and completely off my desk (and into the hands of the vendor.)
Not having to go [...]

overachieving

Akismet seems to be in an overachieving mode and catching many of my regular comments in the spam filter. This means your comments aren’t showing up here and I’m not getting little emails of blog-lurve until I go through the spam que and de-spam the comments that are erroneously caught.
Now either a bunch of [...]

3×15 or 4×15

Third day in a row of 15 hour days. The meetings have been good (except maybe Tuesday) but I’m tired.
I’m working from home tomorrow, but can’t "sleep in" for several reasons:
1) Trainer appointment at 9:00
2) 4 15-year old boys sleeping over tonight so they can go to the state fair tomorrow. Of course, the [...]

Welcome!

11/18/08 Note: In preparation for being away from the computer for a while, I've turned off comment moderation because I want you to be able to interact with my guest posters. Be good while I'm gone kids!

Welcome to the new (and hopefully permanent) home of This Journey. It's good to have people walking along, especially during the bumpy parts. I can be contacted at not.fainthearted at gmail dot com. Or leave a comment!
