almost like having a newborn
I haven’t slept well in weeks because of Mickey and friends. The last four nights I think I’ve slept maybe 4 hours each night.
Last night I woke at 2. Well, 1:57 according to the clock-radio. At 2:37 I just turned the light on and tried to sleep hugging a pillow in the very middle of the bed.
It’s the startling awake that is the most brutal. Because it takes a body a good 20 minutes for that shot of adrenaline to work it’s way out of the system. Then you sort of start to drift off and then you hear another crinkle, or rustle, or scrabble. Is it in the walls or on the floor? Is it the window shade blowing in the breeze or the house settling? Did I move and the noise was the bed creaking?
Doesn’t matter. The adreniline gun has been shot and the process starts all over again.
Until, after three straight nights (that I can remember) I’m tense and reluctant to fall asleep because the whole thing is so unpleasant.
The psychosis should start soon, right? I know the short temper and slow thinking already has. And the achy sore body. OMG. Every joint hurts. Even the long bones hurt.
Reminds me of the sleep deprivation you feel when you’re getting up to feed the baby every two or three hours. Except without the endorphins from breastfeeding.
whatever.
