It’s a Fee, not a Tax

I just dropped off my passport application and discovered that not only did I have an “old” form (and so had to fill out another “new” form) but that the price has gone up $3.00 to a nice round $100.

When I asked her about it she said it was the state/county processing fees that went up.

Since all she did was make sure I filled everything out and make me swear that I was telling the truth “to the best of my knowledge” I’m not sure what was worth $3.00 than it was a few months ago.

Doesn’t matter. The application is in and assuming the Walgreen’s passport photos are OK with the gang in D.C. (or where ever) I’ll have a little blue book again by the end of September or so! (And she said if they don’t like the photos there’s still time to send different ones. Hope she’s right.)

I think that means that the PO staffer got a raise.

Late last year, I sent in my renewal and it was back nine days later. Around the same time, we sent in my son’s new application and it came back in under two weeks. You’ll probably have yours by the end of August.
