Grateful No. 11

As I said yesterday, it’s been a hell of a week. And yet, there have been things that were good. Little bits of hope that I must cling to in order to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

  1. Not breaking the committment to myself to be healthier. Even though I ate particularly poorly Thursday night, I worked out three times this week. And it didn’t kill me! I actually ran a little at the end of each warm-up! (I do not run. I don’t like it. It’s boring. It gives me shin splints and I haven’t done it unprovoked in over 20 years. Yes. I’m that kind of person.) In fact, Trainer Lady pointed out on Friday how much stronger and how much more stamina I already have.
  2. A&ZH who willingly came to help paint, even though they have apparently never painted before.
  3. The Hirschfield’s man that gave me the correct primer.
  4. The 1-to-1 meeting with the chair of the Social Justice committee who said at the end that our meeting had given her a little hope.
  5. Two nights of good sleep where I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night more than once.
  6. Realizing that I don’t need to have my approval essay (20 pages) and 4 candidacy forms (another 20 pages) done until September 22.
  7. Matthew 15:21-28 From this morning’s sermon: Even when God seems silent or hiding, or "there" for everyone else but me, God’s final answer is "Yes" and the promise to be God with Us (me) (incarnate) is never broken. This was very helpful to hear this morning.

That’s a great list! Big and small victories. I hope this coming week is better.

(And ice cream for dinner isn’t bad if it’s the exception, rather than the rule.)
