15 trips completed

This afternoon marks the end of DS2’s 15th trip around this old sun of ours. 15 times I’ve watched the seasons change with him.
He’s at that gangley goofy puppy-man stage where he and his friends’ voices are changed or changing but they still talk and giggle all night at fart jokes (and probably sex [...]

Grateful – Sweet #16 edition

Some of the things that made me smile this week:

Having DS1 be decisive after the college recruiter/admissions officer presentation. He doesn’t want to go there, but I LOVED that he knew it and said it.
Watching my boy have his senior pictures taken.
Not having to stress out on Sunday because my approval essay was already finished [...]

The Prioress

You are a moral person and are also highly intellectual. You like your solitude but are also kind and helpful to those around you. Guided by a belief in the goodness of mankind you will likely be christened a saint after your life [...]

I’m a real Trooper. Again.

So, it turns out this tension/lack of caffeine headache with nausea I’ve been fighting all day is probably actually some sort of gastrointestinal bug.
I say that based on the way my gastrointestines are reacting to dinner. (I’m making the huge leap of faith that it is NOT the debate that is making me feel [...]

Friday Dance Break

Ok. Maybe not the most “dance-able” 70’s tune. Still, it’s been going through my head for a couple of weeks (for some unknown reason) and today, at the coffee shop, I see an article about Joe and the Boys (a.k.a. The Eagles.)
I dial up the YouTube this afternoon and asked DS1 (a.k.a. mono-boy) if he [...]

don’t share that water bottle!!!!

The varsity soccer team is all sick. At least one of them (possibly two) have Mono.
DS1 has been dragging and complaining of "feeling like crap" for a couple of days. I thought it was a cold or the crud that’s been going around. Until I heard about the mono yesterday at the JV game.
I’ve [...]

suzy homemaker

Given the economic news, I think I’m glad I know how to make clothes, make soup and can food over an open fire.
Don’t worry. I still don’t care for cleaning.

examination

My boss LN, met with his (our) new boss this afternoon. The meeting invitation said something like "I want to go over budgets with you. I met with CEO this morning and need to examine job duties for future state."
So, as you (and I) guessed, he came back from the meeting with interesting information. New [...]

rain

It started raining around 6:30 this morning. My muscles are sore from yesterday. I suppose that means it’s all working, but I’ll be honest and say I wish the numbers changed faster. I feel stronger and have more muscle in places I never thought I’d have muscle, but I want the pad of fat below [...]

something I realized today

Background: I was chosen last for kick-ball, and anything else that required picking teams.
When we played bombardament and dodgeball I was a target, not a teammate.
I was smallest and although I was champion skipper in kindergarten, I was the slowest because my legs were short.
I can still walk under a volley-ball net without stooping.
Gym was [...]

Welcome!

Welcome to the new (and hopefully permanent) home of This Journey. It's good to have people walking along, especially during the bumpy parts. I can be contacted at not.fainthearted at gmail dot com. Or leave a comment!
