Friday Randomness

  • I went to bed early last night and slept in this morning. Strange dreams, partly affected by the ear-plugs, waiting for the boys to get home and sheer exhaustion. Something about trying to keep people from jumping off a bridge, and then being bitten by rats. And yet, very restful.
  • I’ve watched the first three episodes of "Jeeves and Wooster" over the last couple of days. I love Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and possibly P.G. Wodehouse.
  • I got a call today that I thought was about a job. Turns out it was the manager of a local German restaurant looking for a fill-in accordion player for four dates in March/April. So I guess it was a job! I think I’m going to take it. Hey, it’s $150 a night plus tips and all I have to do is learn a few more German tunes.
  • LN wasn’t able to give notice today, but knows they are preparing an offer. So his last day will likely be Oct 31, unless they walk him out when he gives notice.
  • DH-L has told LN her last day is Nov 7.
  • Yes, I will be running the whole department (which will consist of Me, BA – the flash developer, LP, KC and SB the training facilitators) and No, I don’t think anyone will be replaced. Probably I won’t get the raise I’ll ask for after these two departures are communicated to upper management. Also, I have a very good idea of which field director will be "given" our team. It will be very grating to have to report to her and it will likely result in me muttering under my breath about her mental capacity most of every day. I’m not proud of that.
  • I talked with SrG. The board will likely announce the Director of Ed position before the board meeting, but will have 1 month for applications to be received. That still means the earliest interviews could be would be the first week of December, because they couldn’t possibly do interviews the week of Thanksgiving. She also wanted to be sure that I wasn’t counting on this as a sure thing. She (and others) really want me, but it’s not a done deal until it’s a done deal.
  • JMC’s leaves Wednesday morning. She is busy packing and shipping things to her parents’ home.
  • I’m telling myself that tomorrow is a vacation day. No work and giving myself permission to lay in bed ALL DAY if I want to. I will likely be too anxious about getting some of the ToDo list done to really do that, but I’m going to try really really hard.
  • In my fitness bootcamp class today we ran stairs for 5 minutes and I made it the whole time. I didn’t quite make it the whole second time we did it, but more than half of that time. Also, I increase sits-ups "to failure" by 18 sit-ups and increased push-ups by 11 (over the beginning of the last session… 5 weeks ago.)
  • The boys are with their dad this weekend. I think I’m going to go to a movie with AH tomorrow evening. Maybe I’ll have her come over for dinner to help me eat vegetables.

You are doing so well with your fitness plan. That is so cool. Maybe that will help with the stress of work. All those changes can wear a person out!
