Weird dreams #2
OK. Last night:
[I was touring an old Congregational church in town here. It is built like an old SW mission church. Except the ceiling of the sanctuary must have been like Hogwarts because there were sugar Maples in there, all ablaze with fall colors and a bright blue October sky. The building was old and the main beams were sagging a bit. At least that's what I noticed after the parish administrator pointed it out. I remember thinking, as I moved inside and outside of the church and the church's library, that I should try to experience the church and service as I would if I were traveling in Europe.
The choir was full of people from my former choirs. Some off the most troublesome characters. They came down for this choir because the church is right off the freeway. At least that's what they told me, and since it was a dream, it made sense. They were getting ready for a big Reformation festival service. Complete with processional parade with brass and some fairly funky rhythms. And the weird part, was that the rector wanted me to research for him a former parishoner, my great grandfather, who had given a large endowment grant to the congregation. He want me to focus on "...the rise of humanism" which I thought odd because he was an Church of England rector, serving a Congregational congregation asking a rather Unitarian kind of research question.
[end dream]
What the heck am I trying to process?
