You sprained your what?

I really don’t remember the injury. All I know is that when I went to bed last night I couldn’t bend my left index finger. I turned the light on to discover that the finger was, indeed swollen. After a little poking and prodding I came to the conclusion that I had sprained it.

At 12;30, when Libby the Wonder Poodle needed to go outside, I took an ice pack out of the freezer. You don’t know how very hard it is to bring an ice pack into bed in the winter to hold around your hand, which no matter how you arrange it, is way way too close to one’s chestal area.

All day long the finger bugged me. Ibuprofen helps (better pack a little more!) and I don’t think it’s broken.

You would be surprised how integral to your everyday life a healthy and strong left index finger is! Pulling up pants, for instance and other personal hygiene tasks. (ahem! See me trying to have boundaries?)

Another fun fact from the day: SB paid me today for filling in for her one Sunday in October in Euros. As she pointed out “You might need to use the bathroom in the airport in Amsterdam and now you don’t have to find the cash machine first.”

I hadn’t even thought about the pay toilets. I was thinking more about coffee for getting through customs and onto my next flight.

LN asked how much time I had in Amsterdam and seemed disappointed that I wasn’t going to have time to go to a coffee shop downtown. He then went into details about the lovely options they have at those coffee shops. He didn’t think they served coffee. He also seemed pretty sure that the coffee shops in the airport only served coffee. I just shook my head.

Your poor finger. The rotten timing of that! I can’t imagine what all those choices are in Amsterdam coffee shops…..

Sounds like with all those choices, it could be a very mellow day in Amsterdam for you.
