Friday Five – First Edition 2009

celticmandala

A blog ring I’ve recently joined has a weekly Friday feature; the Friday Five.

Today, the challenge is this: List five things you remember/treasure from 2008 and then five things you look forward to in 2009. I thought today was a good day to start.

Five things I remember/treasure from 2008

1. Both my boys receiving Sportsman of the Year awards for soccer this past fall.

2. My trip to Italy

3. The pain and uncertainty experienced by my colleagues as the Big Company I worked for entered an unannounced, unacknowledged and un-communicated reorganization. (not a treasured memory, this one!)

4. Being so energized and excited by my Deaconess internship work in social justice organizing. Having such good and positive relationships with colleagues and having so many members be excited about what we’re doing.

5. Being approved by both the Deaconess committee of vocation and education AND by the synod. Early. Just in case I got laid off from the primary bread-winning job.

Five things I look forward to in 2009

1. Finding, entering and starting a first call.

2. DS1’s graduation from high school this spring and beginning college in the fall.

3. Simplifying my life even more.

4. World Diakonia Conference in Atlanta in July. (hmmmm, who do I know in Atlanta that I could visit….)

5. Organizing a visit to South Africa through Partnership for Justice.
