weak-end(s NOW)

It has been another week in “paradise” at Evil Corporate Job (ECJ.)
I have to stop thinking “Wow! this is the most absurd/infuriating/frustrating/fill-in-the-blank thing that could ever happen!” because without fail the next day tops it.
It is likely we will hear this coming week about the closing of the Minneapolis corporate headquarters. JH is trying to [...]

Blinking

I’m sitting a MSP-Int’l Airport waiting for my plane to arrive at the gate.
It seems like just yesterday I was finishing my last post. But I blinked.(If you look it was last week!!)
I spent a couple of hours cleaning out my inbox, and I blinked and there were 634 messages in it!
How did it get [...]

Mom-ness

This is day 4 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry.
I’m not really going to talk about the challenge in this post, so I’ll understand if you skip it.
I’ve written a couple of different posts to try to recap today [...]

Now what?

This is day 3 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry.
I’m pretty sure I’ll bore myself silly if all I blog about for the next month is this No New Groceries thing. On the other hand, it’s still fresh and new [...]

Wait…what did I say?

This is day 2 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry. (Cross posted at Blogher.)
Perhaps I should have thought about this for a little longer. I mean really. Who starts a crazy project like this on a whim? And what kind [...]

I’ve stopped buying groceries

(Cross posted at Blogher.com)
No, I’m not crazy. And I haven’t found a sugar daddy or moved to a commune. Yet.
OK. Here’s the deal.
I think I have the Hoarder gene from my grandma. For me it manifests a little differently than it did for her (read: I don’t have 247 sweaters and she did.) For me [...]

Monday mess

Yesterday I played the role of the invalid. I wasn’t sick but I didn’t do a darn thing. I left church before the second service. Came home, made cheese and crackers for lunch and put in Sound of Music and laid down on the couch and slept like the dead until DS2 came home.
Then slept [...]

Work Weekend?

The plan for today was to whack the weeds, organize the garage and put the patio furniture away.
But it snowed this morning. About an inch stuck on the grass and cool flat surfaces.
I’m often accused of being the meanest mom on the planet, and I know I’m going to regret not sticking to the plan, [...]

The blessings of friends

Tonight (Oct 9) I met PrLE for dinner at D’Amico & Sons on Grand Ave. D’Amico has a house wine special on Friday night (they keep the glass full while you’re there). G joined us as did my classmate MS. M also invited another couple to join us. This couple knew PrLE when she did [...]

48 trips completed

today (oct is my birthday.
I was in the office and JH had gotten me a card. I avoided most of the unpleasantness throughout the day by simply not going. I had brought a cake that DS2 made and given to me last night. There really wasn’t a need for a whole cake for just [...]

Welcome!

Welcome to the new (and hopefully permanent) home of This Journey. It's good to have people walking along, especially during the bumpy parts. I can be contacted at not.fainthearted at gmail dot com. Or leave a comment!
