Sometimes I wish I could ignore the questions people ask me. Questions like these that have come up in conversation in the last week or so:
I know you’ve got a couple more years before it happens, but what are you going to do when the boys are out of the house?
and
Can’t you cut back the corporate job to 30 hours? Then with internship it leaves room for building a life.
I guess that second one wasn’t so much a question but an accusation or indictment that what I’ve got going on here isn’t a life and raised the question in my own mind:
What do you mean “build a life?” This is my life!
Maybe that makes me a workaholic?
Anyway, here’s a picture I made into my desktop at work. This is to remind me of my “carrot.”

How much does the internship pay? That should be the response to question #2 on the surface.
I have thought of going back to school, but seriously how can one do that and fulfill their responsibilities to the job? But at the same time, how can one better themselves while not sacrificing necessary income?

Yeah. I get the one about why I can’t find a good man all the time. I always want to respond by saying, “You tell me…”

I hate questions like that, but then I just spent a week with my mother.
