This Journey

Thoughts, rants, prayers, sermons I'll never give and other stuff gathered as I make my way through this life.

Grateful Decalog

For the 10th week in a row, a brief list of stuff that made me happy this week:

  1. DS2′s cardiology appointment went smooth smooth smooth. All clear on the soccer front.
  2. Cardiologist acutally "ordered" him to limit screen time to 1 hour a day unless he reads for an hour.
  3. DS2 has read Animal Farm this week. The WHOLE BOOK! Because he’s reading 2 hours a day as part of his chores list. (insert happy dance here. this is my boy that has NEVER liked books.) (he picked the book.) (maybe I should leave Ender’s Game out where he can find it?)

A paradox wrapped in an enigma playing the accordion. I'm a sinner-saint, child of God working at the cross-roads of church and world. A Deaconess called to connect people living near the center with people on the edge and to help your life sing (literally and figuratively) while doing it. People don't always get the deaconess part. Could be the swearing, the corporate job, or the wine.

  1. My youngest daughter is so picky about what she reads, but if she can find the right book, she devours it. She read two books while we were on vacation. A book a week isn’t too bad, eh?

  2. This is great news! I love the idea of adding reading to the chore list. Brilliant!

  3. I read Animal Farm back in high school as part of the summer reading assignment. It was a fairly quick and easy read.
